Sound Level
A sound level meter is an instrument used to measure acoustic sound, ideal for use in environments with potentially dangerous levels of noise. Often used for construction site noise monitoring where heavy-duty tools are in operation, factories with industrial machinery, and at busy airports for testing whether ear protection is necessary to meet health & safety standards. Sound level meters work by calculating air pressure changes from sound waves travelling through the air. Inside the handheld unit, these air pressure changes are converted into electrical signals resulting in a sound level measurement readout in decibels (dB). We stock a range of sound level meters and decibel meters at CPC - from the most basic giving an instant reading of the maximum sound pressure level (SPL) in decibels, meters that measure the average sound level over time to data logging meters that take sound level measurements over more extended periods.
