Product Overview

The FT232HL-REEL is a single channel high speed USB to multipurpose UART/FIFO IC in 48 Pin LQFP package. It has capability of being configured in variety of industry standard serial or parallel interfaces. Multi protocol synchronous serial engine (MPSSE) simplifies synchronous serial protocol (USB to JTAG, I2C, SPI (MASTER) or bitbang) design. It supports proprietary half duplex FT1248 interface with configurable width and bidirectional data bus (1, 2, 4 or 8bits wide). The FTDI’s royalty free virtual com port (VCP) and direct (D2XX) drivers eliminate the requirement for USB driver development in most cases. The FT232HL has asynchronous serial UART interface option with full hardware handshaking and modem interface signals.
  • Entire USB protocol handled on the chip and no USB specific firmware programming required
  • USB 2.0 high speed (480Mbits/second) and full speed (12Mbits/second) compatible
  • UART transfer data rate up to 12Mbaud
  • USB to asynchronous 245 FIFO mode for transfer data rate up to 8Mbyte/sec
  • USB to synchronous 245 parallel FIFO mode for transfers up to 40Mbytes/sec
  • CPU style FIFO interface mode simplifies CPU interface design
  • Configurable I/O drives strength (4, 8, 12 or 16mA) and slew rate
  • Core operating supply voltage range from 1.62V to 1.98V
  • UHCI/OHCI/EHCI host controller compatible
  • Operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C
