Boundary Microphones
Boundary microphones are designed for spoken word applications in AV and conferencing based environments. They are intended to be placed straight on a table about two feet in front of the speaker. Boundary mics vary in shapes and size from large to small. We stock models that sit flat on the surface and also models that can be flush mounted on the desk. Boundary mics vary in polar patterns meaning they pick up sound from various directions. The typical polar patterns are cardioid, super-cardioid and omnidirectional, which picks up sound from all over the room. An omnidirectional boundary mic is recommended in the middle of a small circular table. Boundary mics are available as both wired and wireless options. With wired boundary mics, the audio gets straight back to the mixer so it can be processed whereas the wireless option allows for much more flexible use in multi-purpose rooms. Leading brands in this range include AKG, Audio Technica, Pulse, Samson and Stageline.
