Gooseneck Microphones
Gooseneck microphones are designed primarily for AV and conferencing environments or any situation where spoken word needs to be picked up but where the presenter does not want to use a hand-held microphone. Gooseneck mics pick up sound directly from above and in a moderately wide cardioid polar pattern, or you could select one with a super-cardioid pattern which is a tighter polar pattern. The microphone is mounted on the end of an adjustable gooseneck which can range between 6 to 18 inches in length. Gooseneck mics often use a desktop base, and others allow for the mic to be mounted flush with the surface of the desk. For more flexibility, you can find wireless options along with wired.
