Product Overview

TOPSwitch-HX family enhanced EcoSmart, integrated off-line switcher with advanced feature set and extended power range. TOPSwitch-HX cost effectively incorporates 700V power MOSFET, high voltage switched current source, PWM control, oscillator, thermal shutdown circuit, fault protection and other control circuitry onto a monolithic device. It is a highly integrated monolithic off-line switcher IC designed for off-line power supplies. TOPSwitch-HX integrated circuits enable design of power supplies up to 195W, while providing high efficiency under all load conditions. Also provides very good performance at low load and during standby (no load) operation. TOPSwitch-HX allows designer to meet efficiency requirements for new energy efficiency standards. Applications includes LCD monitor, personal computers, small servers, laptop adapters, set-top boxes, digital TVs, printers, DVD players and recorders, UPS, video games, broadband modems, cellular phone adapters and audio amplifiers.
  • 177W (adapter), 333W (openframe) at 230VAC and 118W (adapter), 254W (openframe) at 85-265V O/P power
  • Multi-mode operation maximizes efficiency at all loads, EcoSmart™– energy efficient
  • Extended creepage between DRAIN and all other pins improves field reliability
  • Frequency jittering reduces EMI filter cost, allows both primary and secondary sensing
  • Line undervoltage (UV) detection prevents turn-off glitches
  • Line overvoltage (OV) shutdown extends line surge limit
  • Accurate programmable current limit, optimized line feed-forward for line ripple rejection
  • 132KHz frequency (254Y-258Y and all E/L packages) reduces transformer and power supply size
  • Half frequency option for video application, fully integrated soft-start for minimum start-up stress
  • Output OVP is user programmable for latching/non-latching shutdown with fast AC reset
